Landscape in Pastel Drawing Course €250. (€75 DEPOSIT)
4 x Saturdays (10:30am - 4:30pm) in Ardgillan Castle, Balbriggan.
This 4 week course will explore the medium of soft (chalk) pastel. It is an immediate and very accessible medium and gives the most intense colours of any art medium. It is an ideal bridge to painting as it incorporates all the same aspects of colour mixing and theory without the complications of a liquid medium. The time in-between tuition days is an ideal opportunity to absorb the theory and practice the techniques.
Day 1 (Sat Oct 12th, 10:30am) Composition, Subject, Tonal values and monochrome or limited colour drawing.
Day 2 (Sat Nov 2nd, 10:30am) Introducing Colour. How to balance the intense colours of Pastel using some colour theory and mixing.
Day 3 (Sat Nov 30th, 10:30am) Hatching and Optical Colour Mixing. The technique of hatching is perfectly suited to pastel and allows the artist to create movement and a dynamic sense to the drawing while introducing a greater range of intense colours.
Day 4 (Sat Dec 14th, 10:30am) This will be a full day session working on a single large pastel drawing. Dave will guide the session and offer close one-to-one support.
The course fee is €250. A €75 is required to secure a place on the course with the balance due at the first class.
Deposit is refundable until Sept 7th after which no refund will be made.
